You’ve definitely heard of the famous name, Nicholas Sparks — especially if you’re a romance phonetic like myself. His novels are widely popular among the romance book community and the movies are just as popular. In this blog post, I‘ve decided to share my favorite novels by him that I believe you should read as well!
Summer Romance
We’ve all heard of the movies - The Notebook and The Last Song. But before they were movies, they were novels, and the book is always better.
The Notebook is the love story of Noah Calhoun and Allison “Allie” Hamilton, which started off as a summer romance when the two were younger. However, their romance became short lived when Allie moved back to Charleston with her family at the end of summer. Through many roadblocks, Noah and Allie learn to find themselves before they find each other again. As we watch (well, read) this all unfold, it becomes noticeable that their love runs deep and true, and the twist at the end will have you sobbing in your beach chair. The Last Song is another summer romance between rebellious Veronica “Ronnie” Miller and privileged Will Blakelee. After her parents’ divorce, Ronnie goes to live with her father for a summer with her younger brother, Jonah. Despite trying to resist her feelings for Will, the two get close and ending up falling for one another. However, that changes amid heartwrenching news from her father and horrible news from Will about the church. As Fate Would Have It
Sometimes life doesn’t go the way you planned and things don’t go your way. But when something is meant to be, it will be. In a Nicholas Sparks novel, it will always be.
In The Lucky One, Logan Thibault finds a picture of a young woman smiling while he’s on his third tour of duty in Iraq as a U.S. Marine. Instead of tossing it aside, he tries to find who the picture belongs to — but when no one claims it, he decides to carry the photo in his pocket wherever he goes. He finds his luck changing after this and decides the photo is his lucky charm. As fate would have it, Logan finds the woman in the photo when he returns from his tour (which seems to be a one in a million chance). While Amanda and Dawson’s story is different, fate still plays a key role in their love story. They fell deeply in love in high school but were torn apart after high school and went their separate ways. Twenty-five years later, the two find themselves both in their home town for a funeral. It becomes clear that the two are still deeply in love with each other and have been this whole time. Now, as past memories and undeniable truths come to life, they must overcome their hardships and decide if true love can rewrite the past and create a path for their future. While I’ve only named a few books that Sparks has written, he has many more to choose from that range from tearjerking endings to heartwarming endings. True love comes in all different shapes and sizes, and Nicholas Sparks manages to give you an insight of the different forms it comes in.
